| DAVID PORTER ANTIQUES Fine 18th and 19th century furniture, silver, clocks and objects d’art. Valuations. David’s love and knowledge of antiques began at an early age, when as a young boy he used to spend time talking to all the dealers in Cape Town, they encouraged him to buy small pieces of silver. His first big purchase was a pair of chairs from Millie Finn, which cost R80 and took 3 months to pay off – he still owns them! David started painting 11 years ago, and through this has developed a great interest in South African art, there are always interesting paintings for sale in his gallery. Influenced by the beautiful Georgian buildings in London, David had his distinctive red brick building built in the heart of Claremont, Cape Town and David Porter Antiques has been trading from it for 25 years as specialist buyers and sellers of fine 18th and 19th Century furniture, silver, clocks, paintings and objects d’art. David regularly attends auctions and International Fairs, always on the lookout for fine pieces. |
