BRONZE & IVORY FANCY DRESS (also known as PIERROT & COLUMBINE) – Demetre Chiparus – Circa 1925.
A pair of cold-painted bronze and ivory figures, the male figure in a pierrot costume, the female representing a columbine (a pierrot’s sweetheart), on a brown onyx base. The pierrot has ivory hands and face, the columbine has ivory arms and hands, neck and face.
Height: 49cm.
Signatures: Engraved ‘D H Chiparus’ on the base.

This model was produced in two sizes, 49cm (the one on offer), and 33cm. All Chiparus sculptures with more than one figure on one base are the extremely sought-after, and are in short supply. The condition of this particular model is excellent.
